Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy that consists of about 63% nickel and 28–34% copper, along with small amounts of iron, manganese, and silicon. This unique blend gives it remarkable resistance to various corrosive environments, such as seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and alkalis. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 550 to 690 MPa, yield strength between 240 and 380 MPa, and an elongation of 30 to 40%. Monel 400 also boasts good fatigue strength, toughness, and weldability, making it perfect for high-stress applications in both corrosive and marine settings.
